Many changes here: ## Asset/Folder path restructure Went through the entire project and renamed/restructured folders and assets. Decided this was actually the best time to do it because it was already spawling and a bit of a mess. Sprawl would only worsen. This is actually a super important critical thing to know for the future. Automated building, linting(?), etc. is done in a headless state. So I'm glad I did this task. See https://jerkytreats.dev/letsgo/time-tracking/folder-cleanuprestructure ## Game Mode + State I wanted to separate the concerns for what is managing the Quartz clock/metronome needed to play an instrument on a beat. Quartz uses dedicated thread to manage when sounds are to be played, but I didn't want to have just one giant blueprint containing every instrument. In order to have instruments access the Quartz clock, I needed to store in the Game State. State is an Unreal entity defined by the Game Mode- another Unreal entity. State is kind of like a Model, and Mode the controller, if thinking in terms of an MVC framework. So we have a custom game mode and custom game state. State holds a Quartz clock, and the game mode provides accessors to the States clock. Getting this to work was the cause of much whinging on my part. See https://youtu.be/8We4Ad04Uuk?si=poAhhGCe7kHnI5nt With the accessor compiling, I created \`BP\_ClockMain\` to create a Quartz Clock and set it in my custom Game State. ## Drum I exported a quick kick drum sample from Ableton I then setup a Drum BP to pull the clock from Game State, queue and play the drum on each beat. The result is a four-on-the-floor kick drum pattern that is working.
