So I have a working, but wrong, CreateMotif
method built yesterday in The Path Forward Is Clear
Today I worked on making it work correctly…. and it’s been stumping me.
It’s not exactly that this is a difficult problem to solve, it’s more that it’s difficult to solve in 1 hour chunks each day.
I have exactly 1 hour each day from ~5am to ~6am to work on my project, then to work I go.
Some tasks aren’t great for that pattern, especially tasks where you have to just kind of sit down and figure it out in one go.
To combat this, I’ve added more documentation to Generative Music Without LLMs, the over-arching devlog associated with this feature.
The nice thing about Notion is I can create subpages for my rubber ducking sessions.
So I created Constructing Music: Tension And Repetition as a subpage to the Generative Music.
This is where I’ve captured all the design work for calculating the amount of tension in the motif.
Once I figure this out, I’ll sum my findings in the Generative Music page, with the more rambling discovery work in the Constructing Music article.
For those interested, the Generative Music article is the latest in a long line of articles detailing my dev journey from the very first day I started working on LETSGO: Designing Sound
